Various pressures, some with no check valve at all, some with check valves, some with check valves plus 'anti-siphon' valves that block flow if the pump isn't running, etc etc. It pays to know you've ordered the correct valve. The one that Van's Aircraft sells works fine as an in-series boost pump. Here's a listing of Facet cube pumps: http://www.facet-purolator.com/cube-fuel-pumps.php Charlie On Sun, Aug 24, 2014 at 11:25 PM, Robert Laird wrote: > > On Sun, Aug 24, 2014 at 9:58 PM, B Young wrote: > >> I guess I am puzzled,, if the faucet pump Is not working. I have the same Facet electric fuel pump in my Mark-3, which has been in operation for 12 years, and I've never had a problem with it. I run it continuously, for the entire time my engine is running. With a fuel delivery pressure of only about 6 psi max, I am not worried about flooding my carbs. And with a mean-time-between-failure rate in the tens of thousands of hours, I'm not worried about wearing it out. About a year ago, however, I did hear a story of a Facet pump that did not work - right out of the box. The guy returned it to Aircraft Spruce for a replacement which works fine. Maybe Facet has suffered a recent decline in quality control, and yours and his were from the same batch? According to the SB, for several engine serial number ranges, the original equipment fuel pump has a 5-year life and it is "RECOMMENDED" that these be replaced "with immediate effect." My 912 was manufactured in 2001. So according to the bulletin, I'm WAY past due for a new one. Even though my Pierberg mechanical pump is still working fine. But this is not a MANDATORY service bulletin, so what do I believe? Do we treat this with the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude? Anybody done this yet? Your thoughts or recommendations? Dennis: I ended up buying their overpriced Pierberg replacement pump for about 180.00. Ouch, that hurt. It is a nice pump though. Looks like premium quality. Supposedly same one used on some model Porches. My original Pierberg on my 2007 912 had begun to leak some oil out the weep hole. If it was still serviceable, I'd probably still be flying it. I have a good Facet boost pump to rely on. john h mkIII Titus, Alabama Hauck wrote: << Facet Pumps ... All, Time flies when you're having fun, right? The article I thought I'd po sted about three years ago was actually posted last May. As Maxwell Smart s aid, "Sorry about that, chief." Anyway here's article and photos. It was complete with the part no. of the gau ge he used and instructions on how to tune the two pitot tubes that drive i t. Nick, =C2- My AOA indicated comes by way of my Dynon D10a EFIS. =C2-It featur es an audio alarm that is piped into my intercom system. =C2-Additionally , I built a visual alarm of a line of 19 LEDs that strobe to the center on my panel, much like those flashing lights on the highway that wants you to change lanes. John,=C2- =C2- No, I haven't flown it yet, although it is virtually finished. =C2 -Lots of excuses, and some legitimate reasons. =C2-I quit work 9 years ago (I was a concrete contractor) but didn't have any money coming in, rely ing on my wife's income to pay bills, which we do by just barely squeezing by each month since she is a 3rd grade teacher. =C2- I haven't had the $1000 it would take to get my tail wheel endorseme nt, and updated BFR. =C2- Ahhh, then the main reason. =C2-Two years ago I mentioned I had a tremendous attack of glaucoma. =C2-In the course of one month, I lost abo ut 50% of the vision in my left eye. =C2-Gone forever, ain'ta never comin g back. =C2- =C2- As if that wasn't enough, last year in January I had a major medical catastrophe. =C2-Lucky to be alive. =C2-$50,000 in medical bills, incl uding new double cataract surgeries to replace both lenses due to cloudy vi sion. =C2- This year I am still trying to recuperate from last year's fiasco. =C2-I am almost there....or at least as good as I'm going to be. =C2- I sold the GlaStar kit I was working on, and now have the money, but presently my focus is on restoring a '66 Mustang fastback. =C2- I plan on keeping my Kolb, and anticipate being able to fly it in a year or so. Everybody, =C2- =C2- About two plus years ago I shared with this list a home-made AOA ind icator (I think) using a Hall Effect circuit, magnet and torpedo pointer lo oking thing. =C2- I know I shared with list the home-made "lift reserve" indicator. =C2-I have one "store bought" model (made by LRI, Inc), and I also have o ne I made exactly like it myself. =C2- If anyone is interested, I'll dig through my files and see if I can post them again. < Are there any AOA equipped Kolb=99s out there?> Yes, I know one at least one. Mike From: nickc@mtaonline.net Subject: Kolb-List: Angle of attack indicators... Hello Kolbers, =C2- There is a big push by the local fight safety organizations here in Alaska to get pilots to install Angle of Attack (AOA) indicators. Every year we lo se at least several pilots to low altitude stalls while circling big game a nimals, in addition to other stalls causes. The military pilots, tell me th at AOA was the way they were taught to fly since the configuration of their planes were often changing in flight. I am not planning on installing rock et pods on my wings, but to me the AOA sounds like a good idea for at least a low time pilot, if not everyone. Are there any AOA equipped Kolb =99s out there? =C2- Thanks, =C2- Nick Cassara =C2- 607AK starting to look like a plane! =C2-=C2- =C2- arget="_blank"> http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?Kolb-List http://forum s.matronics.com ="_blank"> http://www.matronics.com/contribution href=" http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?Kolb-List "> http://www.matroni cs.com/Navigator?Kolb-List href=" http://forums.matronics.com/ "> http:// forums.matronics.com href=" http://www.matronics.com/contribution "> http ://www.matronics.com/contribution href=" http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?Kolb-List "> http://www.matroni cs.com/Navigator?Kolb-List href=" http://forums.matronics.com/ "> http:// forums.matronics.com href=" http://www.matronics.com/contribution "> http ://www.matronics.com/contribution >
