Dear Listers,
There are just two more days left in this years List Fund Raiser. We are still
way behind last year in terms of the number of contributions and total contribution
amount. I really want to keep providing these services to the homebuilt
community, but it take resources. Since there's no advertising budget or deep
pockets to keep the operation a float, its solely your generosity during the
Fund Raiser that keeps things going. Please make a Contribution today.
If you've been putting off showing your support for the Lists, now is the time
to do it!

I caught a video here on the forum a few months ago. I believe that it may have
been taken by lcottrell or John Hauck. The subject was two or three Kolbs flying
together over a dry lake bed or river bed. So really cool low flying.
I can't seem to find the video and was wondering if anyone may be able to point
me to the post.
Appreciate this forum greatly and all the help and inspiration you guys offer!

This is a further test of the Quiet tech. ear buds.
https://www.quiettechnologies.com/. The picture (ear buds) shows the mic
muff that comes with the set. I have installed the rubber ear buds on the
unit rather than the foam ones. They are much easier to keep clean, install
in the ear canal much easier. They are not as quiet as the foam however.
One of the things that caused me some surprise was in using side tone on my
intercom. You are aware that without the side tone, you cannot hear
yourself talk in the mic. I had to almost turn the squelch to off on my
intercom or the engine noise would activate the side tone feature and I
would hear the full throated roar of the engine. Even when I got it to
where the side tone did not activate by itself, when I did talk, the engine
noise was very loud. John Hauck asked about using the Oregon Aero mic muff.

I installed it this morning and since it was pretty quiet, ( 3.5 mph)
rolled the plane out for a test. The difference is remarkable. All the
annoying engine noise is almost gone. It also cut down by a couple of
percentage points the engine noise that the one that I am talking to hears.
In fact I am having trouble understanding why the manufacturer of the ear
buds does not supply these with the unit. It makes that much difference. I
was having such a good time that when I called for landing, I was informed
that I would have a 16 mph cross wind. I had to ask again, to make sure. I
guess I was having so much fun I didn't realize that a front had come in.
No problem however.
Its taken a bit of tweaking, but I am very happy with them.
Larry

My Kolb MKIII Tweaks & Hints web site is now partially migrated to become a link off George T. Alexander's website. - http://www.oh2fly.net/oldpoops/index.htm
Do not yet have mine completely rebuilt, and won't for a while. All the FSII stuff
was outdated, and right now that airplane is getting some work done on it,
so pictures will come later. But at least the progress has begun.
Thanks again George!
