Yup. I remembered seeing it and liking it but have the same reservations as John
about more secure mounting. Also curving the outlet pipes down by the boom
tube might reduce sound in the cabin.
Also I didn't see where he had mounted the oil cooler.

Subject: | Two Questions V. card compass and rivets |
Hello Kolbers,
I have two questions. I have seen pictures of a couple of Kolb cockpits with
Vertical Card compasses hanging off the Plexiglas windshields. I am thinking
about hanging mine also, and would like to know what materials to use to
adhered the hanger to the Lexan.
Question two is.I need to rivet the horizontal stabilizer fittings to the
Boom tube and stabilizer, but not sure what length of 3/16 rivet I should
use, or were to get them?
Thanks for the help,
Nick Cassara

Travis, Kolb, can send you SS rivets.
I would use hardware store aluminum rivets to hang the compass. That is
what I use to fasten the Lexan to doors.

Two sided sticky (think go pro to helmet), SS bolts, alum rivets (non
ferrous ), silicone( test on scraps ) May need to scuff the surface.
Rivets for the horizontal. Check with Kolb

Nick, Do you have a picture of the fittings you need to rivet to the boom?
When I did the fittings on the MkIIIX "Plane from Hell" I had to make
custom rivets and special nose for my riveter. EAA published my builder's
tip about making the rivets. If you need it, I can send you the nose.

PS I've never been able to find a lower price on pop rivets than McMaster
Carr. And they're actual, honest to God, Pop Rivets, not some cheesy Hecho
en Chine kind.
