Jody
I have a mark3 with a 912. It mounted ok with enough clearance for the
prop and ran ok.. but when I added a 3 inch prop extension I ended up
with two benefits.
1. Ended up with 2 to 3 mph faster speed.
2. It cut the noise in the cabin enough to be worth the time and expense.
I think rotax said that 4 inch extension was the maximum you could go.
Hope this is helpful.

If you have time can you tell me where you got your prop extension?
Thanx

It was discussed on the list and a member of the list offered to turn it on
his lathe and do it for the cost of materials.... right now I can't think
of his name,, but I haven't seen his name on the list for years. He asked
what I wanted and I drew a scale drawing. He liked my drawing better than
what he had seen. I think he made him one like he did for me.

I run a 66" Warp drive on a B box behind a 377. It's a very smooth and extremely
durable prop. But the Warp Drive prop is heavy. It likely has a moment of inertia
more than the B gearbox is rated for. That said, if you just keep the idle
speed up around 2,000 rpm you can avoid the damaging resonance that occurs
at low speeds. This is true with any prop on a Rotax 2 stroke. That chatter you
hear a low idle speed is the knuckle joint attempting to absorb the resonant
energy pulses between the prop and the engine. You don't want to be hearing that
sound on a regular basis. Just set the idle speed up until it goes way. A
fast idle may have you moving faster than you'd like on the taxiway, but it's
much cheaper to replace brake pads than gearbox parts. And I've never had a forced
landing due to worn out brake pads.

There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of
conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.
