I've gone through my set of plans and the firestar builder's manual and can
find no specification as to the gage of the sheet aluminum used in the ver
tical stabilizer attachment brackets. Can anyone help me?

As I remember my mkiii instructions said 0.032 aluminum. Your mileage may
vary.

Here ye be, it is the bracket referred to as Gusset "L" on the 1st picture, top
right. It is .032 thick, watch the minimum bend radius. It is confusing, because
they also show a different Gusset "L" on the next picture, which is part of
the same blueprint sheet. I figured it out by comparing the Firestar sheet to
the MKIII sheet, last picture.
