We have personal property tax so I'm taxed on my car, truck, motorcycle, boat, boat motor, boat slip, and airplane! There are about 10 private strips near me and 7 are on the charts. Sounds like there are pros and cons each way. Tough decision. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=456062#456062

Not to get too far afield, but I find the 26.9% number for the US to be highly suspect. Having said that, I'm a bit surprised that Pat is surprised. If he saw what some guys in other states pay every year for homebuilt use taxes he'd probably die of cardiac arrest. :-) Charlie On 5/11/2016 8:42 AM, Herb wrote: > > Uh! Oh! I suppose if it were all on the table,,,, people would have a kniption fit... After income tax, property tax, sales tax, state and federal excise tax, utility taxes, special use tax, that added to the fees collected in Lew of taxes (people get tired of too many taxes, so if it is called a fee, maybe people won't mind as much). Schucks,,, when i was in business they taxed the tools my dad gave me when i was 14 years old,,, and when they could not collect enough, they had a minimum tax added onto my tax burden just to make it worth while to collect...... I'll bet the total is in excess of 50 percent maybe 55 percent. After billing me taxes on my plane for years. They offered a lifetime tax on the plane, it was quite a bit more, but once and done... Sounded good so I paid it only to have the program repealed the next year. When repealed the yearly fee went up by 50 percent. Do not archive Boyd Young. Thank You Again!! i just joined them. do not archive [quote="rickofudall"]You're welcome. See also:http://recreationalaviationfoundation.org/ (http://recreationalaviationfoundation.org/) These guys are doing all the heavy lifting to get states to add recreational flight to their RLUA's. They should be able to answer any questions about the advisability of having your runway added to charts, what info to give, etc. Rick On Tue, May 10, 2016 at 12:12 PM, flywithme wrote: > > Wow Rick! Hi Charlie, we don`t have taxes based on owning something.(except houses) Taxes on USING something, cars.lorries yes. None on boats, though you may have to pay for a mooring or maybe a license if you are in a river or canal. None on planes except what you pay for C of A. We don`t tip everyone either. Restaurants, taxis, sometimes hairdressers (Gawd knows why) Women tip hairdressers I believe. Tips are usually 10%, maybe 12.5% if you are feeling generous. I have never heard the farmer who owns the field I flew my microlight from complain about a tax and being a farmer I am sure he would have moaned about it if he paid such a tax. <<Don't forget the Brits have a TV tax (colour and BW) and a hose tax. Kid you not.......hose tax.>> Quite right, but having watched the stuff on US TV and bearing in mind that we have several channels with no adverts. at all, it is well worth it. All pensioners get TV with no charge. Hose tax? Yep. Dont you get charged for water? We used to get charged for water on the basis of the size (value) of your house, with a surcharge if you used a hose. Most households have changed over to paying through a meter where this does not apply. Hi Jim, re `hose tax`. It so happens that my water bill for the end of last November to the beginning of this May has just arrived. First. There is no extra to pay for a hose if you pay by watermeter. Charges are for 50 cu mtrs (10000 gallons) and includes charges for sewerage (on the basis that what comes into the premises goes out as sewerage) Total 223.81p. Just for interest. Subject: MkIIIC for sale
    From: Robert Laird <rlaird@cavediver.com>
FYI: My Kolb is still for sale. It will be on Barnstormers tomorrow, but wanted to give everyone one last shot at it. I can no longer provide the TLC needed for =8Bit and I won't be around long, so I need to sell it quickly, so I'm putting it up at a bargain basement price: MkIIIC -- N# 553RL (certified as an eLSA) 234 hrs TT Airframe, Engine & Prop 100hp Rotax *912ULS**=8B* Always hangared 2 six-gallon tanks Electric fuel pump Airspeed gauge EIS with engine info BRS Chute (expired) Intercom Odyssey battery 3-blade *Warp Drive* prop hydraulic disc brakes Thomason stainless steel exhaust =8B(no springs needed)=8B Photos: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4298307717.41.500807717&type= 1&l=f368fa4ce6 Video showing the unfolding/folding of this MkIII: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGblkR8cdYE Price: $17,000 This price *includes* a fully enclosed aluminum trailer.=8B =8B The trailer has four brand-new tires on it, with a spare. The l ighting has been re-wired and has been checked and works fine. The trailer jack is both electric and manual and works fine.=8B It is ready to be towed away. Extra photos of the trailer are available. The price includes the trailer, but if you don't need the trailer, the price will be the same. The plane is located near Waller, TX (37XA : Skydive Houston). Full-disclosure issues: I have not flown it much in the past couple of years, so it does need some TLC. Currently, the gap seal needs repair or replacement. The other issue is that the original builder did a sucky job with the hydraulic brake lines, and right when my life fell apart I had just torn up the aluminum floorboard to get at the brake system (he riveted the entire floor!); I never finished the brake repair or replaced the floorboard. Bottom line: the plane flies very well, but without brakes you'll need to land it on grass until you get the brakes repaired. I have flown it and landed on my grass landing strip and used the grass taxiways without any issues with stopping. (To be specific, the discs, pads, lines are all good; it just needs a reservoir to be added, connect the lines and then an air purge. It will also need a new floorboard.) If you are handy and can address these minor issues, this would be a great =8B (and easy)=8B *=8B=8Bproject*. =8BBut i=8B f you aren't into experimental aviation maintenance tasks, then this might not be the plane for you. If I can't sell it in the *=8B=8Bnext =8Btwo weeks*, it will go back into hibernati on mode until I get back to town (at which time, I will try again to sell it). *=8B=8BPlease contact me off-list.* Contact info: Robert Laird 713-581-4976 rlaird@cavediver.com
