I have had extremely good results in my 4x4, with various nefarious
snake-oil tricks. I have a log book I have kept for these last 24 years, has
everything in it. Mods, mpg, it's all there.
I put some fancy spark plugs in there and have documented results. then I
put some spark intensifiers on there and documented the results. Then, there
are the various oil treatments I have used over the years, and more 3rd-rail
stuff I dasn't say anything about.
I have purposed deep in my heart to try these on my aircraft before I say a
peep about them here.

The difference is you don't have a boatload of freezing air blowing on your right
side in the winter.
I fixed mine years ago by taking part of an old foam rubber mattress and cutting
an oversize round plug out of it, then cutting four slits for the control cables
in the appropriate places and cramming it into the tube right behind the
gear. It's still there. Didn't notice any change in performance.

Wonder if it will help reduce noise. Seems like the prop swinging by the
tail boom might amplify noise and send it up the tube into the cockpit.

Kolbers,
I was intending to block the end of my boom tube with screening, to keep all my
fellow summer aviators to from getting suck inside and snacking on me. Sounds
like I should reconsider my material choose. What have you used Rick?
Thanks,

Sounds logical but didn't notice any difference.

For testing, perhaps use a 5 inch diameter foam disposable plate, taped into position
with masking tape, and holes poked in the foam for the cables. Then if
it works and makes a useful difference you can come up with a more permanent or
more attractive solution.
They do make plastic insert plugs for all sizes of "mailing tubes" I think???

Don't use that insulating foam in a can I think it is called "great stuff".
It latches on to the control cables in the fuselage tube so hard that you
have to almost break the cables to get them to move again. Ask me how I
know this...
