    Larry- From my days of chasing electrical problems on tractor trailers: A dim bulb is a bad ground. All of your problems sound like you need to clean all of your grounds, and check for a cracked or broken ground wire. Good luck. Bill Sullivan

    Yep...the fact that the battery is not charging...fairly isolates the problem...Stator, which likely has a common ground..,bad crimp connections in one of the molex connectors...sometimes the insulation is crimped but not the wire inside.. No tach really does take the problem back to the stator winding ground..or stator winding short...     Larry You installed this engine...I am guessing, and did you install a good engine to frame ground strap?
