I have read on this list about the importance of "bracing" the tail on a Kolb if you are going to fly off-airport. Does anyone have a photo or drawing of how they did this that they could post? Sorry this is a bit rough the dotted lines are the braces. They go from the bolt that holds the tail wheel rod in the lower vertical stabilizer to the ring on the tail boom ring. Mine are 3/16 by 3/4 aluminum.... I've seen others out of round stock. You will have to drill out one rivet on the tail boom ring to 3/16 or 1/4, your choice On Aug 5, 2016 3:50 PM, "Bill Berle" <victorbravo@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > > I have read on this list about the importance of "bracing" the tail on a > Kolb if you are going to fly off-airport. It was taken on my way to the rock house in Oregon. Sorry the tablet did not focused through the plexiglass well. This was on a different route than I used before, I was thinking Thai I should be getting close, and just about missed it because I was not looking for rocks on this scale.. I got home yesterday and had to dodge , by either going around, over, or under, the clouds of smoke from several wild fires in Idaho and Utah. Boyd Young Mkiii Utah

Should bring you to a string where John Hauck had posted a number of pics for his MK III -------- George Alexander FS II R503 N709FS http://www.oh2fly.net Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=459249#459249

George, Ive heard this discussed previously. I think John Hauck has the real skinnay on this. I think it involves putting two steel tubing (4130?) braces on the steel ring at the end of the fuse tube, attached to the tailwheel support. Hpe t8is helps.
