Coolant, oil and fuel lines, carburetor diaphragms, flanges , etc. They also want the fuel pump replaced after 5 years. Also, my engine mounts are about 9 years old. (Have about 60 running hours on them over the last 5 years). They seem OK but wondered if I should go ahead and replace them. Any comments appreciated. Never let me down since 1993 and about 3200 hours. Only time I ever had one quit on me was landing at Toad River, BC. Was determined the idle jets iced up from a long slow approach down the mountain side to the gravel strip. Weather was perfect for carb ice. This last 912ULS I changed out the coolant hoses around 5 or 6 years. Used locally procured Gates hose rather than spend all that money for Rotax hoses. Engine oil hoses are super high quality silicone with the blue outside cover. They have been on their since my first 912ULS around 2000. They are steel braid reinforced. No problem with degradation of the interior of the oil hoses. Used to change out a lot of the other rubber stuff, carb diaphragms, etc., but haven't bothered with this last engine I mounted in 2007. I do keep my eyes on the carb sockets to insure they are not cracking. If I see a crack or feel they need changing, I change them. This last time I changed them with JBM sockets. I see they want 76.00 a piece for them now, three times more than the two stroke sockets. ??? Hope I don't have to replace the ones I have, but they have lasted much longer for me than Rotax sockets. While I am at it I may as well share my feelings for Rotax oil filters at 25.00 a pop, last time I looked. I have used Fram (oh my God!) Tough Guard TG-3614 oil filters since day one on all my 912's, about 5.00 a pop. They do a good job for me. I wouldn't tell anyone to not follow procedures established by Rotax for 912 maintenance, I don't recommend anyone doing as I do, but that is the way I do it with pretty good success. john h mkIII Titus, Alabama -----Original Message----- From: owner-kolb-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-kolb-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Rex Rodebush Sent: Thursday, June 21, 2018 9:55 AM Subject: Kolb-List: Rotax 5 year rubber replacement Rotax requires a rubber replacement at 5 years for their 912 engines.
