Made a trip to the north end of the great salt lake. This area is usually
under water, but the lake is low and the heat has dried it up. On the
way to locomotive springes i looked down and saw 3 bikers picking up camp.
Flew low and waved. When I saw their dirt bikes standing on their kick
stands without sinking in i was sure the lake bed would hold us. The guy
in the red seemed to know a lot about planes.... Seems that he is a pilot
of a slightly larger plane,,, he said something about a 767 that he flies
for Hawaii airlines. He and his 2 boys were doing an accros the country on
dirt bikes, all back country roads.
It was a Good morning.

I made another flight to check on some watering holes for the upcoming
Antelope season. I had a small window of calm air for a while. After I got
back and was uploading the video I mentioned that July was the season for
dry lightening. Since then there have been two fires in the areas that I
just flew. The regional fire crews as well as the rural fire protection
districts have been working them, as well as planes dropping fire
retardant. The winds went from 3 MPH to 33 MPH. So it gets a bit "western"
at times here.
