Subject: Twinstar Mk3 Wing Incidence Question
    From: "Steve Sands" <ssands10@gmail.com>
I am working on an older Mk3 that has never flown. We are part of an EAA group in Oregon. We are trying to correctly set up the wing incidence as the plans we have are not clear. 1. Do we set the wing incidence 9 degrees and 7 1/2 inches from horizontal at leading edge when the boom tube is level or do we set the horizontal stab as level then set the wing incidence? 2. We have a 80 Hp Rotax 912 UL mounted. Does the thrust line need to be parallel with the boom tube or parallel with the horizontal stab line? Thank you all for any guidance you can share. I have a firestar 2. In order to correctly calculate the weight and balance for my plane- step 1 is to cause the wing to be at 9 degrees (7 1/2) by raising the tail. Simulate the scales thickness with a similar block under all wheels if you only have one scale... the plane must remain at the 9 degree wing angle throughout the weighing. The block is removed when each individual wheel is weighed. My plane required that I was in the pilots seat to put the CG within the allowable range. After talking with Brian at Kolb I suggested that maybe I could move the engine forward 1. He said that I should then install a 1 spacer to move the prop backwards to its original clearance from the wing.
