It did an impressive loop and ended up with the tip on the ground. There was damage to the fabric on the leading edge, which was no problem to fix. It also made me think that the rear attachment was possibly compromised. I consulted Brian at Kolb, and he helped me determine that it was ok. My point is that it happened in the blink of an eye, even though I was being very careful. So again, I urge you to proceed with care, and consider a tie-down if necessary, enlisting the help of another person, or moving to a wind-shadowed area before attempting to fold your Kolb. Sorry I didnt relate this tale of woe in my earlier post. I chalk that up to the result of an aging brain....or my effort not to recall and relive that scary event. Kolbs are very sturdy in the wind while flying, and are often the only remaining aircraft flying the Paradise City pattern at Sun and Fun when the wind picks up. They are also one of the few that offer the great feature of being able to be folded for storage or trailering. Therefore, theyre a great pick. Happy and safe flying!
