Finally got everything together and flew this afternoon. WOW! The 72" prop and
3.47:1 ratio really accelerates!
Still got some things to sort out, with 13 degrees of pitch, static tied down was
6250, climbing out the prop loaded up a bit and was only turning 6000-6100.
Egt's were good, pulled back to 54-5500 rpm cruise, egt's were good.
Repitched the prop to 12 degrees, climbout was 63-6400 rpm, climbing 1,000/min,
but as soon as I reduced throttle to 5500, the EGT's went up to 1200 degrees.
Eased the throttle back to around 5,000, went back and landed.
My initial reaction is that the prop unloaded a bit much in cruise, which jacked
the egt's, but first I'll go through the carbs and make sure that everything
is like it's supposed to be.
The wife says that it is remarkably quiet, and that is w/o the after muffler installed.

Sounds as though you need to raise the needles, too lean.
