    Subject: Kolb serial number
Kolb serial numbers are supplied to the faa by the (((builder / aircraft manufacturer))) and by that i mean,,, the person who either buys a kit from a kit manufacturer (in our case kolb) or he could have bought only plans , or he could have stick built the aircraft from a design immagioned in his own head. By definition a kit manufacturer does not manufacturer aircraft, only kits. The aircraft manufacturer when finished assembling the kit, parts, other asdundry items, makes application to the faa for a airworthiness certificate. He will supply a serial number of his choice... It could be your birthday, the date you bought the kit, it could be your initials, it could be a number generated by a random number generator. It could be the document number given to your great great grandma when she came through Ellis island in 1846,,,, if you want to always remember when great great grandma came to America you could use 1846... Let me try again to be perfectly clear, the aircraft builder (you).. NOT the kit manufacturer (kolb) That gets to choose the serial number How do i know this? The serial number of my plane is "B1Y" my initials are BY and this was my first amature built plane .... Put it all together B1Y The number is engraved onto the data plate permanently atrached to the plane, Now with all that said,, the aircraft manufacturer (you) could use the cage number stamped into the cage by the kit manufacturer (kolb). But you do not have to. B1Y Boyd Sorry got long winded Do not archive

Paul -------- Paul Hutson Middleton, WI Paul, =C2-The Ms doesn't enjoy flying as much as I do. I have had the MK3 Extra kit in the barn 10 years and it's still in nearly the same state of build when I got it. I've had Ms in the house for nearly the same amount of time and after going over the pros and cons we decided it would be best to sell the MK3 kit and I keep flying the FS1.=C2-I have it listed locally on Cra igslist, soon on Facebook Marketplace and E-bay. Details follow. Anyone int erested?? Fly safe, Darren, Central MI. KOLB MK3 EXTRA KIT, Serial # M3X 00-2-00004. Early model. Experimental ligh t sport. Has separate flaps/ailerons. Steel parts are factory powder coat w hite. Dual controls. Nearly at quick build stage, needs one flap finished, wing tips finished, and all flying surfaces are finished and will need cove ring and paint. Has paperwork, prints and manual. Decent used wheels, tires , disc brakes. (No Master Cylinder/s), nuts, bolts, rivets, 2- 5 gallon fue l tanks, streamline strut fairings and hardware. I believe most parts are i ncluded but not 100% sure, I never did a thorough inventory when I bought i t. No covering, no paint, no engine, no instruments and no prop included.

    Subject: Ivoprop hub extension
I am buildinga Firestar 2 I picked up a couple of weeks ago. A bit over a year ago I bought the remnants of a Firestar 2, everything but the cage.I have a 64" 2 blade Ivoprop that was supposedly off the first plane I got that came with a Rotax 447. I don't have the 2 1/2" prop hub extension that the manual says I need to use (to clear the airframe of the very flexible ivoprop blades) nor are the bolts with the prop long enough for that extension. The guy I got that plane from was grabbing parts from all over his hangar so it's possible that the prop didn't come from the Firestar but I have no reason to doubt that it did as he gave me the right engine (even though he had several 447's and 503's on his floor). For those of you Ivoprop users, is the extension something you got from Ivoprop (I didn't see it shown on their website) or is it something you got somewhere else like from Kolb?I'd ask the guys at Kolb but they aren't answering the phone, nor responding to the texts and emails I've sent. Thanks, Jay
