Subject: | Europa tail wheel spring arm attachment |
Hi,
Anyone had any issues with the tail spring attachment bolt fixing on the Europa
classic?
The laid up ply and steel plate on mine appear to have been crushed ever so slightly
but enough for me want to fix immediately. Can't feel any movement but when
i grab the spring and apply lateral pressure it creaks, indicating some movement
even if i can't feel it.
I read somewhere about a reinforcement fix but can't find the mod on the LAA or
Europa club site.
Any help appreciated.
Ron

The further away from the motor mounts you hang the mufler, the more it will be
thrashed around by the motor's vibration, and the more likely it will be to develop
cracks.
It is pretty easy to put a heat shield on it, on the side facing the wing fabric
and problem solved. We did this on both the FSII and the Firefly and it worked
OK.

Hey Richard, looks like a nice set up.
Right now it seems like I have less than an inch and a half of clearance. After
running the engine awhile the fabric scorching.
Im checking with leading edge to see what they have

I talked to LEA. They suggested the same as you did. Heat shield. I may try to
modify the mounts to raise the muffler some and go with a heat shield. Plane
is getting closer to flying..

OTOH, if you never fold the wings, then you can use a Quicksilver type muffler.
Problem solved.

Subject: | Aileron balance tubes and weights? |
My slingshot has the aileron balance tubes in place. I have the weights that go
inside to neutralize control. There are no holes in either to secure the weights.
The drawings show a bolt thru set up. . Are you using these? And if so,
how are the weights secured in the tubes?
Thanks
