Subject: | Slingshot Weight and Balance |
I searched the forums, but couldn't find anything. Does anyone have the weight
and balance info for a slingshot? Arms for each station (fuel, pilot, passenger)
as well as fore and aft cg limits?
Thanks!

Not sure what happened, but I had a prop strike on start up. Prop hit the aileron
control arm and snapped! I had started it 3-4 times earlier. Taxied around,
all was fine. I was installing a better tach. Went to start it, and bam.
God slapped.
I removed the prop. Gear box/hub looks good, but I think there is an air leak now,
in a seal. As it warms up, the rpms climb way up, with throttle at idle.
Prop was tight. Rpms were at starter speed. I dont get it?

What brand of prop? Ivo's are known for massive flex/flap during startup & before
the engine smooths out, and a hub extension is mandatory. Stiffer props are
safer w/o an extension. But check anyway.
One of the locals had a T-Bird with a 3 blade Ivo on it, no extension, similar
results. The Rotax roughness at initial start/gearbox chatter makes the Ivoprop
really flap.
TL,DR, flex your prop as far as it can go and then add a bit more. If that doesn't
readily clear your hardware, you need a prop extension.
