Here's my rig. I have a shallow hill that I have to pull the MKIII up, for years I used a set of nylon pulleys & 100' of light rope, but this is WAY easier. Pretty self explanatory, except for a couple items: The tailwheel loop is just a length of 3/16" steel rod brazed to two large flat washers, one of which has a half loop brazed to one side of it to keep it at the correct angle relative to the tailwheel side arm. I removed the original wire rope from the winch reel and replaced it with a good grade of #550 paracord. The pulley was sourced from an aircraft wreck. The winch is from Harbor Freight, small and cheap, got it on sale. The remote control is from a different HF winch that died after several years, I kept the same remote control unit and hooked it up to the smaller winch, works great. It was originally incredibly noisy, took it apart and repacked the gears with more grease, quieted it down a bit. The winch has a disengage knob on the far end, pull it and roll the airplane out, engage it and pull it back in. Really slow, but works for me! PS: When you buy a winch from Harbor Freight, depending on which model you get, most of them have a set of horizontal and vertical roller guides that are designed to be mounted adjacent to the winch spool. HF does not include the mounting plate that holds the guide, be sure and spend the extra $6 for the mounting plate! -------- Richard Pike Kolb MKIII N420P (420ldPoops) Kingsport, TN 3TN0 Forgiving is tough, being forgiven is wonderful, and God's grace really is amazing.
