Passing wire and cables through the fire wall can be accomplished by using
the appropriate sized electrical nipple.
Let us say that you have to put a marine push/pull cable of 3/8 " diameter
through the fire wall. Get a 2" or 3" nipple through which the cable fits
snugly. Use a hacksaw to cut out the upper half of one end for about 3/4"
from let us say the right hand end. Use a nut on both sides of the firewall
to retain the nipple or weld a circular plate onto the nipple and by means
of 3 screw mount it through a hole in the firewall.Push the cable (or wire)
through and anchor it to the nipple with a 1/4" stainless steel adjustable
clamp which goes over the top of the cable and under the buttom of the uncut
portion of the nipple. The fixture can be completely sealed with high
temperature silicone if desired. You have only to choose the size of the
nipple to suit your cable/wire situation. Electrical nipples are much
lighter than iron plumbing nipples.
