--> KR-List message posted by: <jeffyork40@qx.net> Jack, thanks for the response. I have chossen a battery made by Hawker industries. It is called the Odessey and I bought the model 535. This thing is a dry cell battery that has both deep cycle capability and 535 cold crank amps, all in a case that weighs only about 11 lbs. I put it in the plane last night just to check it out. Man this thing can crank my VW 2180. IN a test at 53% charge, it was still putting out 360 cold crank amps. These where the best stats so far that I found on a replacement battery. By the way, I can not tell you how many times I was embarrassed when the Die Hard I had, died on the ramp after just a few blades on the VW. My 2180 has always been a bit trickey to get started. I have always believed that hd mostly to do with the manual choke. They are used on invalid carts . A friend of mine uses one to start his Lycoming 0-320. The battery doesn't look big enough to me but he says it will start the engine all day long with no charge. it is not lead acid, but more like charged condenser. JC
