Subject: | Kr-2 Airplane Cowling makes progress |
--> KR-List message posted by: <jeffyork40@qx.net>
With the motorcycle ticked away , I have refocused my attention to the completion
of my KR-2 engine cowling. Some of you already know that about a year ago,
I pulled the cowling off of my airplane to modify it.
It has sat in dis repair for several months and since I can't use what little spare
time I have to ride my bike, it has given me the motivation to get back on
this project.
The main focus of modification was to remove the square intake scoop and replace
it with a RV-6 scoop. The other modification was to remove the square landing
light that was glassed in just above the square intake. I just did not like
the cosmetic appearance of the old intake and light.
Today, after weeks of prepo work , I applied the base white PPG DBC basecoat. Probably
should have waited for warmer weather but oh well.
I am very happy with the light bucket that I made out of fiberglass and frenched
into the cowling. For those of you not familiar with the KR-2 I will just point
out that these pictures are of the lower cowling. This item is turned upside
down when attached to the airframe, in other words, the intake is on the bottom.
Here are the latest pictures.
Happy Thanksgiving.
