I have a question or two about airfoils.

i know there is a new critical airfoil for the kr but I was wondering 
how well it works and
if it is so critical that a hacker or a new to fiberglass guy like myself
could hope to build it and it still perform?

the other question is i know the bonanza, malibu, rv-3,4,6,7,8, venture 
egg and many other fast plans use airfoils:

Are these planes fast due to the aifoils or the HUGE engine pulling them?

Has anyone tried the rv8(NACA 23013.5) airfoil on the kr with a vw engine?

I was putting together my plans to build a kr1 (modified of course) makeing it
a bit longer 
and different airfoil and wing taper from the fusalage.

Please tell me if you know which wing would be the best and fastest. 
I don't mind a higher stall speed or the longer take-off landing 
as it will mostly be operated form improved surface longer runways.
