it seems it might be a good buy.

Dunno what you're looking for, but Bill here (near Clearlake, CA) has an
excellent sample for about $6,000 which included engine. It was together, but
not running. (BRAND NEW VW motor mounted, carb/exhaust not hooked up, engine
shroud needing some minor-to-modest repairs, as well as other "spit and
polish" issues.
It struck me as otherwise a well put together plane, though I by no means
represent a professional opinion.
I looked at it a few months ago, but haven't been able to come up with the
combinations of finances and wife willing to go for it.
