Turns out the most difficult part of this system is sizing the freon lines. I'm trying to keep it all hose for ease of installation. It gets pretty complicated when you're dealing with a low volume compressor with a high volume evaporator. The tube sizes are critical since there all these factors that need to balance out, like head pressures, low side pressures, superheat, orifice sizes, expansion valves, gas velocity, compressor cooling and lubrication, etc. Needless to say, I'm learning more about thermal dynamics, and gas law than I really want to know at the moment. Once I get some new fittings of the proper size, and then fabricate some special fittings, I will be ready to charge up the system and start playing with R-134 volume and pressures. It will probably take several experiments with different expansion valves and high and low side tubing size changes before I have it all balanced right, but I hope to be generating cold air this weekend or early next week at the latest. Will keep everyone posted. Ernie
