As always, looking for more performance I guess. 250 lbs is a lot, but as a percentage it is not, so I guess it would not make such a big difference. I guess objectively one could question the cost / benefit of removing weight, but I just hate the thought of carrying extra dead weight around. I would like to strip as much as possible, including wiring. Problem here in SA is a lack of familiarity of the avionics. Drop tanks as luggage is clever idea. And thought hhhmmm, this has promise! Wil try find out more detail, it essentially is a small unit with 12V 24V compressor, components are small enough to mount in a small car, so could well work in L-29. Thinking the section in nose where IFF unit lives.
