I have to admit though, the L-29 guys seem to have all their "stuff" in one bag. The others don't seem to get it. Safety records speak volumes. Zach, can you send me a cd rom? Bill -----Original Message----- From: SD737@aol.com Subject: Re: L29-List: flying the L-29 --> L29-List message posted by: SD737@aol.com The L-29 manuals are all on cd rom.. contact Zach. Hopefully if you buy an L-29 either in pieces or flying you will seek some knowledgeable guidance not only to benefit yourself, but to also protect the entire L-29 group......!!

--> L29-List message posted by: "Gary Cole" <ca6209@flash.net> I had Kinko's downsize a flight manual that is 5x6" that is easy to read and installs in the pocket in both cockpits. Mine is in KM but with Knots added. I am going to get a couple made for one of the guys in Lancaster so if any one else wants one let me know. They are cheep so it won't cut into your fuel account. I also had my Weight/Balance downsized and they put this in a small binder. I have some parts coming from Valentin in Estonia so if you need anything let me know part #s. Gary They tail stand is easy to make using the shipping frame. Anyone interested I can E-Mail you pictures of same. I put on the site a tow bar and work stairs that works great. David, as I am the nearest 29 to you come and ride.(your fuel) -----Original Message----- From: owner-l29-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-l29-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Bill Geipel Subject: Re: L29-List: flying the L-29 --> L29-List message posted by: Bill Geipel <czech6@earthlink.net> Nice idea about knowledgeable guidance. Subject: Rudders
--> L29-List message posted by: "ROBERT SCHWARTZ" <schwartzcompany@worldnet.att.net> I would like to offer some commentary on a very interesting discovery. As we are all aware the L29 was built (or modified to create) 4 variations. (A, C, R and RS) The RS was a derivative of the R with the tip tanks removed and the rear seat removed. The A was a limited production effort to create a single pilot aerobatic aircraft. (rear seat and rear canopy glass removed) However there are some other minor differences between the A and C that I want to expound upon. In looking close at the tail of the A model, it becomes apparent that a totally different rudder was utilized. It is about 4 inches taller and about 2 inches deeper from front to back. It has a notch cut in the top edge to a 45 degree and the fin above the rear tail is removed along with the inspection plates on both sides of the rudder base to accommodate the taller rudder. It appears that by removing (unriveting) the flair fin and removing or modifying the inspection plates on both sides, the C could accommodate this larger rudder. It does fit exactly otherwise and all connections are correct at top and bottom. Pete Taylor and I have come upon this revelation because we obtained several new A model Rudders by accident. (L29 312 ND) Notice the ND on the part number. This brings me to my question. Certainly we all agree that more rudder command could be a plus for the L29, especially for aerobatic operations. But, since the A model came into limited production very early on, if this was a good idea, why was it not adapted by Aero and installed on all C models subsequently built, or overhauled. It is a real mystery to me. On the surface this modification to the larger rudder appears workable, yet why was it never done by Aero??? Now a caveat. I AM NOT RECOMMENDING THAT ANYONE MODIFY OR CHANGE THE RUDDER DESIGN ON THEIR L29. I am just suggesting that it may be possible and could improve handling. What are your thoughts?????? I am hoping that we can obtain the real facts from someone at Aero that knows. PS the photos are of L29A and an R , but same as C Bob Schwartz

    Subject: Re: Rudders
--> L29-List message posted by: Ernest Martinez <erniel29@gmail.com> Well since a jet doesnt suffer from torque or P factor the additional rudder wouldnt really make much of a difference, except if you wanted to snap roll the airplane, and I guess it would have expedited spin recovery, but more rudder = more drag. The A model obviously could have benefitted from the larger rudder strictly for acro manuvers, but I think probably at the expense of performance somewhere else. --> L29-List message posted by: "Zach McNeill" <N777ZE@comcast.net> David: Send me your address and I will send you all documentation that you need under the current regs for training. There are several training programs out there and you need to ensure they are approved by the FAA each instructor should have a letter from the FAA stating their training program has been approved or they have been given written permission from a person who owns (invented) an approvwed program. The new oversight in the FAA will be looking for the proper training program. The regulations are changing and the oversight for our part of the regulations is also changing. At the CJAA annual convention Bob Wright (AFS 800) spoke to the members and outlined a new very different mindset. I am presently having the VCR tapes converted to DVD. We will have the entire convention (Speakers) on CD in a couple of weeks. Another great brief was from Doug Gilliss on the Rules and regulations basically a what you need to know for operating these aircraft. I strongly agree with Bill you need to have someone who knows these aircraft look at them before you purchase one. Bill and Bob both know the aircraft from nose to tail. I made my tail dolly out of the shipping material. If you can get your hands on a reasonable factory dolly I would highly recommend it. For my jacks I went to harbor Freight and tools bought 3 3ton hydraulic rams and welded ups some frames. They work Flawlessly. Did you ever find out why it got disassembled? >Have you ever been in one yet? > No. Is that important? Yes. It may not be what you are looking for. Before I imported 37 jets, I decided I should at least get in one to find out if it would fill my needs. So I paid for a ride. Smart move. I would have hated to run all over the communist world then realize I didn't like it or couldn't afford it. Still can't afford it but what the heck. >Tail dolly not nice to have..Required to have. Otherwise begging is in order and always encouraged. After all, we are men and should be used to it. >Bill

I still think doing an annual at the fly-in might be of interest to some. I would rather do the formation clinic, but whatever will help the group. Is Roma alive?
