Thats why most of us here have voluntarily lowered them to 6+, -3. My body can't do 8+. The viper was used in a military light attack and trainer. So, Yes I would think it could if someone was silly enough (or made a big enough mistake that required 8+ to save your butt) to do 8 G's. ----- Original Message Follows ----- From: delfin@mail.pf Subject: Re: L29-List: swapped engines Does the viper support +8 as the Walter engine ? It strikes me as a huge job, but any extra power would be nice as would be reduced fuel burn. There was talk of fitting hydraulic brakes too, has any one done this (it would reduce the dependance on air)? The other thing that I notice is that the seats are very massive and mine have been de-activated so they dont need to be able to stand any more than 6G Does anyone have an idea of weight of these things? I used to have a Yak-52, before I went mad and bought an L-29, by removing all the excess gear so I could use it for day VFR only, I lost about 70kg, the plane flew better. The buyer made me put it all back in. The Yak seats were light and strong, and I was wondering how much weig ht could be reduced apart from the pilot dieting. Pete Taylors L-29 has no airbrakes and flys fine, I wondered if you had an air system that only drives the seals, light seats, most of the inverters gone etc etc, what would the plane fly like? I am sure that some of the people going to Reno have done these things, any ideas what their weight loss is?
