A good weekend boyz. I flew 3 L-29s. Getin'um ready for the Lamar flyin.
For our foreign friends; getin'um = getting them ready.
Interesting thing happened; was going like "Bat out of Hell" (
translation = Going a little fast) in the old Viper jet. You know how
it is. Runways get dirty and need dusting, so there I was at 5 or so
feet, dusting, pulled up, my VSI pegged at 3000/fpm, stopped for a
moment went through the 3000/fpm and went around again! Probably not
good for the instrument, but somethings are worth bustin'!! (breaking)
Back seat is still meters/sec. It was pegged at 60. Rolled over the top
at about 15,000'. I admit, is was nice.
Good to know the old L-29 "pig" has still got it. My L-39 never did
that.
I wish you guys could come to Lamar. It'll be fun. You don't need to
bring a jet. Just put gas in ours. We have 2 to play with and one for
those special occasions. We have 12 Yaks coming. And several owners have
offered to put vistors in the front seats of their Yaks to brush up the
basics before spending big fuel bucks in the L-29s. Nice offer!
Still wondering if Pete & Jack are doing well. Haven't heard.
Blue Skies
Bill
