As long as its DRY, I think that is the most significant issue. Id be curious to know what other L-29 guys are using. BTW, I found a pretty cool ultrasonic leak detector from Grainger that is pretty amazing. It surprised me how many really small leaks I had. Detector was so sensitive and found so many leaks (and one bad reducer) that she will hold 70 bar for months at a time now Bill From: owner-l29-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-l29-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Anthony Royal Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 2010 1:27 PM Subject: Re: L29-List: External Tanks Maybe better to stay with the nitrogen than dry air? --- On Wed, 10/13/10, Bill Geipel <czech6@mesanetworks.net> wrote: From: Bill Geipel <czech6@mesanetworks.net> Subject: Re: L29-List: External Tanks Dry air is never dryer than Nitro. Great idea and cheaper too. Plenty of SCUBA shops around my area. I under stand they are 20 cu/ft tanks. Should be able to get aluminum tanks that are DOT approved and that solves the FAA problem. The compressor is in place on my plane in 1998. Its always works well. It il in place in the front, right side, where was the originally IFF. It is an electric compressor with a switch on the mail panel, front place. I put it off when aerobatics. You have to check the oil once a year. It is on bigs silent-blocs. It gives air pressure for everything, except the rear canopy seal. Begins to work at 20 psi, stops at 50. Takes 14 minutes from 0 to 50 psi, and 7 from 30 to 50. There is a water draining to be open after each flight. I have no leaks on my air circuit. Best regards. Jean de Roubin

Sorry, it is not psi but Bar. I have no idea of make and model. I think it is a czech one. Jean Le 14 oct. 2010 =E0 14:32, Bill Culberson a =E9crit : Wow, that's pretty cool. One question though. Do you mean PSI or BAR (ATM). Minimum onboard air pressure is 50 BAR which is about 725 PSI. Max is 150 BAR or 2175 PSI. If your electric air compressor goes to 725 PSI in 15 minutes and you have had no moisture related failures of your air system, I'd like to buy one. Do you have a make and model for it? Thanks! BTW, make/model for ultrasonic leak detector is Amprobe UT-300... ----- Original Message ----- From: owner-l29-list-server@matronics.com <owner-l29-list-server@matronics.com> Sent: Thu Oct 14 19:05:47 2010 Subject: L29-List: L-29 Compressor The compressor is in place on my plane in 1998.
