If anyone is interested, several months ago there was a post asking if anyo
ne had tried Dyna Beads to balance the nose wheel of the L-29. I didn't se
e any posts in response.
My L-29 nose wheel was out of balance and would shake rather violently afte
r takeoff. I added the Dyna Beads this past Sat and flew the aircraft and
the vibration completely disappeared. No vibration on takeoff or landing.
I backed off the axle nut enough to allow the heavy side of the tire to rot
ate to the bottom, taped weights on the tread of the tire until I got the t
ire balanced....about 1.25 ounces, as a reference amount. I removed the we
ights and added about the same amount (1-1.25 oz) of Dyna Beads into the tu
be.. I bought a kit that has a plastic bottle and tube that fits on the val
ve. Just pour the beads into the bottle, attach the plastic tube to the bot
tle and the valve and slooooowly pour the beads in. Time consuming to get t
he beads thru the valve but be patient. Might want to purchase the valve c
ore that has the filter on the end of it too then you don't have to worry a
bout the beads clogging the valve when you check the pressure. Total cost l
ess than $15.
