Bottom of door corroded off up about one inch and broke off.=C2- Skin, re inforcement, and c-channel support. Could probably fix but may be cheaper t o buy a door by the time I buy everything plus time.=C2- Right side was r epaired, I assume by the military, by cutting the corner off and patching b ut the underlying [parts were still good. No way to do that. On the very bottom tip of the gear door, just below the jack pad, you have the outer skin, behind the skin is a flat reinforcement plate, and a c-channel backer.=C2- The c-channel was fine but the skin it self looked like when magnesium corrodes. It just fell apart when I touched it. The plane stays in a hangar too and the door has good paint on it.. Th e reinforcement was almost in as bad a shape. The skin is riveted to the re inforcement and the reinforcement rivet holes had cracked thru. I cut out t he bad skin but would have to do a lot of small rivets to attach a new patc h and probably have to look at some type of automotive panel adhesive to he lp attach the patch to what's left of the reinforcement plate.....paper thi n.=C2- Be much easier and probably cheaper to install and fit a new or us ed door. If it was just the outer skin, like on the right gear door, the rep air would be a breeze.=C2-=C2- I believe this is the end that gets hit when you pull the jack out if not c areful. I've never hit it though.=C2-=C2- On Sunday, January 7, 2018 9:59 PM, William Geipel <l129bs@gmail.com> w rote: do we need to drill drain holes on the bottom?
