Hallo everybody at the Lancair list!

after many years of building I finally got to the point to get the engine
      started.
I am experiencing the following problem and hope somebody can give some
      suggestion:
I am following the Lycoming handbook procedure for starting the engine but
      what happens is that,
after a few seconds running (I have actually even not the time to completely
push back the mixture to "Full Rich") the engine stops again. Now I have
been trying to figure out whether I have an electrical problem but it
appears that the left (impulse coupled) magneto is correctly providing
current to the spark plugs; I have checked the markings on each of the caps
connecting each of the plugs to the respective single cable of the ignition
harness: I noticed that each of these caps is provided with a characteristic
marking (for example T1, B1, T2, B2: I guess it stays for Top- cylinder 1,
Bottom- cylinder 1 and so on). According to these markings everything is OK
as far as connecting the magnetos to the spark plugs.
So now I am trying to figure out whether the engine receives fuel regularly.
I don't remember exactly what I did on connecting the electrical boost pump
(Dukes high pressure pump delivered from Lancair): I suspect that the
polarity of the connection could be inverted and that the pump runs in the
wrong way. Has anybody mounting istructions for this pump and/or any
suggestion in this connection? The pump was delivered without any mounting
instructions or specification sheet and I didn't request one by that time.
Many thanks for your help, Paolo

Try starting your engine with full rich on. Mine starts all the time in "Full Rich".
To stop the engine I pull the knob to "Full Lean".
