Subject: Lancair 360 and cranking up the engine for the first time
--> Lancair-List message posted by: "asdfasdf asfasdf" <paolodgf@hotmail.com> Hallo everybody at the Lancair list! after many years of building I finally got to the point to get the engine started. I am experiencing the following problem and hope somebody can give some suggestion: I am following the Lycoming handbook procedure for starting the engine but what happens is that, after a few seconds running (I have actually even not the time to completely push back the mixture to "Full Rich") the engine stops again. Now I have been trying to figure out whether I have an electrical problem but it appears that the left (impulse coupled) magneto is correctly providing current to the spark plugs; I have checked the markings on each of the caps connecting each of the plugs to the respective single cable of the ignition harness: I noticed that each of these caps is provided with a characteristic marking (for example T1, B1, T2, B2: I guess it stays for Top- cylinder 1, Bottom- cylinder 1 and so on). According to these markings everything is OK as far as connecting the magnetos to the spark plugs. So now I am trying to figure out whether the engine receives fuel regularly. I don't remember exactly what I did on connecting the electrical boost pump (Dukes high pressure pump delivered from Lancair): I suspect that the polarity of the connection could be inverted and that the pump runs in the wrong way. Has anybody mounting istructions for this pump and/or any suggestion in this connection? The pump was delivered without any mounting instructions or specification sheet and I didn't request one by that time. Many thanks for your help, Paolo Paolo Fanti Munich - Germany Basic configuration information: Lancair 360 - Engine LYC IO360 B1F - Wing tip extemsions - Larger Tail plane - Speed Brakes Precise Flight (belly mounted) - Electrical trims on elevator and aileron - Garmin GNS 430 - Vision Micro EPI 800 Engine monitoring - Double fuel system (old system with Facet fuel pumps and 1/4" alu lines from the wings (now used only to transfer fuel to the header tank which is used for T/O and Landings)) with Andair fuel selector valve and 3/8" alu lines directly from the wings - Rubber dampers of main gear substituted with Oleo-pneumatic struts. http://toolbar.msn.de Jetzt kostenlos downloaden!

time --> Lancair-List message posted by: Dan DeNeal <rv6apilot@yahoo.com> Try starting your engine with full rich on. Mine starts all the time in "Full Rich". To stop the engine I pull the knob to "Full Lean".
