Malcolm, Good to hear from you. I look forward to seeing the pictures when you post them. Which Esqual wing have you done the oil flow experiments on - the earlier one or the later one (longer span, turned up tips and different airfoil)? Also, did you see any difference with flaps up or down? My newer wing Esqual has a rather large gap on the underside of the wing when the flaps are up that I want to use the mylar seals there to try to keep smooth airflow and to prevent air going up through the gap to the top surface which I would think would cause some turbulence at that point. I have had that type of gap seals on several General Aviation aircraft and they seemed to help cruise speed. That's what I am looking for. Your comment about the curved airflow matching the fuselage profile is one of the reasons the Lightning fuselage shape was changed. The area where the fuselage narrows is farther aft on the Lightning to prevent the curved airflow while still over the wing area. I was thinking about using the turbulator tape instead of VGs in some of the same areas where you mentioned using VGs - on the fin to get more rudder effectiveness. Might even try some turbulator tape to help aileron effectiveness on the Esqual's wing. I found the wings and wheels web site last evening and it looks like they have everything I need.

Tex, Permagrit cutting and grinding wheels on an airpowered die grinder work well also. We've had continual problems with the rotozips not holding up well to the dust created by fiberglass sanding and cutting. They really work the fiberglass well. TEX
