Dave, Nick, and all.
It looks like I will need some mylar that is about 4'' wide to do
the gap seal like I want to do it. The widest that came from Wings and
wheels was about half that. I thought I had a way to make that work,
but no luck this afternoon. I will search the inter net tonight to try
to find a source for wider (and thicker) mylar tape. I have not done
any experiments yet with the turbulator tape.
Dave, glad to hear you have has some success. Just how did you do
your flap gap seal?
Nick any word on my new auto pilot? I will fly out the week of 14
August and do the demo flights for you if it is ready to be installed by
then.
Blue Skies,
Buz

For those who have been asking, the Shelbyville operation is back in full
operation.
I haven't seen any comments here, but Dana, Nick's wife and the Jabiru
corporate memory, is home recovering from an operation to set a broken collar bone.
If you haven't met Dana, she is a neat lady and a real asset to the business.
I'm looking forward to her return (so is Pete).
Nick has several flights in so far N17EF, and expects to get in another
flight this evening. All is going well with the normal first flight adjustments.
Temps are a little too high and not even, so they are adjusting baffles and
moving the oil cooler. One flap is sticking a bit, not retracting fully. Minor
first fight issues.
I'm in Atlanta at work this week, but will go up next week when Nick decides
it's time for me to take on the flying chores. Looking forward to it!
Maybe I can get a ride in Buz's Esqual.
Life is short, build (and fly) fast. Credit to Roy LePresti.

Of course you can. Not too sure when I will be in SYI next - depends on
when my new auto pilot arrives.

Pete,
I know you were asking Tex, and maybe comments from someone who does not
have a fuselage are of little value, but here is my 2 cents worth and I
hope
it's helpful:
"Use the Scotchbrite wheel or sandpaper to remove the mold flange in the
canopy seal area to create a smooth surface for the canopy seal." The
photograph makes it difficult to see where this is exactly, but maybe if
you
have the fuselage in front of you it is obvious.
Same with "Remove Flange Around Canopy"
"Mark off a vertical rectangle starting at your mark that is 3/4 inch
wide
from front to back and tall enough to accommodate the spars." How do you
determine if it is vertical? Surely this depends on the angle of the
fuselage relative to the ground or is it perpendicular to a chord line
on
the horizontal stabilizer root?
Colin K.
