JIm,
I know that Nick has a CAD file of the panel dimensions. Just be
aware that the bottom 2" folds under at a 90 degree angle; lack of that
knowledge caused me some problems.

Hey folks,
Check out the short write up on the Lightning at:
_http://www.bydanjohnson.com/_ (http://www.bydanjohnson.com/)
I understand that Dan will do a more in-depth piece soon and it should show
up on this site plus hopefully in Sport Aviation. It looks like the "rest of
the world" will soon know what we have all been saying about the Lightning,
its performance capabilities, handling characteristics, and all around
beautiful looks.
On another note, I have finally found the time to put the 64ZK55 on my
airplane (N31BZ had been running a 54 inch pitch). I will have a more
in-depth report soon, but preliminary data indicates that this prop still allows
the
engine to go over 3300 rpm at 5000 feet. TAS at 5000 (on a hot day) with
the OAT of 77 (90 on the ground) seems to be real close to 184 to 185.
Remember, N31BZ is a modified Esqual with Lightning nose and gear. A clean, well
rigged Lightning should be faster.
Blue Skies,
Buz

Nick,
Would you be around to fly either real early before work or after you get
off work at Arion? I need to do a baseline without any mods first. I think
it'll take about 4 hours, but we'll have to refuel a couple of 3 times to
keep the weight up. Might take a couple of days. Figure that I could fly
before work and fly Rick's the rest of the day. I need as calm of a day and
as little humidity as possible for this time of a year. Let me know if
you're up for it. Brian W.

Nick,
I'd like to right at sunup to get as much done with calm air and before
you have to be at work. Alternatively we could do it in the evening after
the winds die down and after you were off work. I'd like to start Tuesday,
get the unmodified baseline done, and then put on the gap seals and let you
fly it back through the envelope and make sure that our "temporary"
application will hold throughout the tests. We could also do some before
and some after work and I'll fly Rick's plane in between.
Thanks, Brian
