Hi John,
Yes, we have most things all put together, fitted, and at
the moment all taken apart getting ready for paint. I just need to work
out how to and where to. I was very pleased to finish cutting and
triming the canopy to fit last week.
I did read about your experience in you trying to eject
while on the go, I don't think I need that, my concern in the back of my
mind is a roll over and how to get out.
I do hope you get started soon, I think you will enjoy the
build program.
I expect a 40 hr fly off program then hopfully I hope to
see what WA is like, a long way I expect.
Do keep in touch,
Regards,
Peter Disher

Booth LD 03 is our Sun N Fun booth. I should have removed the link to the
sun N fun page.
Oshkosh booth is 427 & 428 in the north aircraft display area. We are just
north of Zenith and just south of Van's aircraft and across the street from
Jabiru USA.

I can't believe that Oshkosh is less than six weeks away! Things have been
a little quiet on the forum lately, so I thought I would ask two questions.
"Who's going to Oshkosh?" and "When will you be there?"
I'll start off:
I will be there the 26-28th.
I guess the Arion Aircraft booth at LD 03 will be the gathering place?
Pete; is it useful to keep some kind of message board, (whiteboard?) so the
Lightning users can stay in contact with each other? The Murphy guys used
to do that all the time and it worked well.
Any kind of gathering while we are there?
Jim!

Jim and all Lightning listers,
I will be at OSH a week to ten days early (as always) as I work in the
Vintage Aircraft Show Plane registration area, and I will stay the entire week
of the show. I will be camping in the vintage area, but hope to have N31BZ
parked near where it was last year which was in the homebuilt area near the
main entrance to the flight line - just in front of the control tower. Pete,
I can't seem to find the sign you guys made up for last year directing people
to the Lightning display area, so hopefully you have it there - or can make
up a new one for this year. It certainly seemed to help get people
interested and headed to your area.
I would like to say I could save some parking spots for Lightnings, but
alas, I have no pull in the homebuilt parking area. Things would be
different if we had vintage airplanes, as I could make that happen. But if you
guys
arrive early, good parking spots will be available. Last year I was the
second homebuilt there (the first one was local). The good parking spots start
to fill up the weekend before the official start date.
Don't know if Pete or Nick has a forum planned on the Lightning this
year, but if so, be sure to make that and lend support to this great design.
In
years past we have gotten together at least once during the week at the
Lightning display area and then had lunch as a group to discuss Lightning topics
with interested people. This year there should be more folks there that have
flown a Lightning, so we should have a larger group. I hope to see many of
the listers there.
Blue Skies,
Buz
PS: For those of you that might be camping at OSH, here is a list of items
to consider when packing your airplane or car. The list was when I used to
take the Bonanza, but when I took the Cub, the list was obviously smaller. A
Lightning should hold the complete list if you are traveling alone.
1. Rain jacket or Poncho
2. Hat
3. Shower Sandals
4. Cell Phone and charger
5. Sunglasses
6. Back pack
7. Digital camera and charger
8. Flashlight
9. Spare batteries (these are available from venders at OSH)
10. Knife
11. Duct Tape
12. Scissors
13. Toiletries (toothpaste, soap, shaving kit)
14. Baby wipes
15. Soap
16. Plastic tarp
17. Camping cord / rope
18. Tent
19. Inflatable camping mattress
20. pillow
21. Towels
22. Sheets, blankets, or sleeping bag
23. Alarm clock
24. Fluorescent camping lantern and D cells
25. Disposable plates, utensils
26. Garbage bags
27. Toilet paper
28. Zip lock bag assortment
29. Folding chairs
30. Aluminum bi-fold table
31. Cooler or coolers
32. Cups and Paper Plates
33. Paper Towels
34. Stake Hammer
35. Mosquito repellant
36. Sun block
37. First Aid kit
38. Basic OTC medication assortment (Pain relief, upset stomach, cough,

Hi John,
I have been about 6 weeks now, I might just add, In
Shelbyville 4 of us with there supervision only took 1 week. The problem
here is, one is on his own and for every 1 hour of build time there is 4
hrs of think time and of course no other a/c to look at.
I'm still keen to build another after this and I feel it
would most certinly take half the time.
I think build supervision has it's merits, ask Dennis what he
thinks.
