Hello Bill, Welcome to the Lightning group. I am lucky enough to have flown several different Lightnings, including the hybrid, the prototype, the new demo, and a customer build one, and I can certainly say that you have chosen a great design that is fun to fly, economical to operate, and looks like it is dong Mach 2 just sitting on the ramp. I just returned from Oshkosh and while there I had the pleasure of visiting the Lightning fiber-glass factory and I am even more impressed with the strength and integrity of the design now. Rick Disher and his crew turn out outstanding products using the latest technology. And to provide you even more reassurance, Rick is building a Lightning himself. I would encourage you to share your building experiences with this group as you go through the processes in constructing your "jet". We can all learn through the experiences of others, so as a group we are stronger in the knowledge base it takes to produce one of these great airplanes. Blue Skies, Buz Rich PS: Also retired USAF fighter pilot. PPS: How do you know if an A-10 took a bird strike? Answer - Look on the trailing edge of the wings. :-) ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

Everybocy should be getting back from Oshkosh by now. Give us the details, impressions, new ideas, what's cool, and what's not. Some of us couldn't go this year, and are anxious to hear. Scotty -------- Old pilots remember when flying was dangerous and sex was safe. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=126395#126395

Well, I finally got to meet some of the other builders. I know that a small group went to Custom Fiberglass to see how the Lightning was made and were very impressed. I'll let one of them comment on that trip. I bought most of what I need in my panel and was placed on the MGL Odyssey list for delivery in three months. If it looks like the Odyssey is going to be late coming, I may borrow a EIS from someone just to get my aircraft airworthy, (if that is allowed), and then install it when it arrives. I saw the new fuel tank, (larger), and new landing lights to be installed in the wing. The best thing for me was to have access to the Lightning guys for questions. I also was able to nose around the Lightning demo and take a lot of pictures. It is much more meaningful to me now that I have started on my aircraft. All in all a great time. Jim! Jim, There are no details yet since we still have to come up with the date. We're planning on late Sep. When Pete, Nick and I recover from Oshkosh we'll come up with the date and initial details.
