The Shelbyville team needs some numbers for event planning purposes. So far, I only have seen Colin, Tex and me respond to Mark's request. Well, I am sure Earl will be there as well since he is giving a presentation on his world record flight. So please, if you are a Lightning customer, a Lightning fan, a Lightning information needy person, or someone that has just always wanted to visit Shelbyville and meet the famous Lightning team members, please plan on attending. I guarantee you will have a great time and you might even get a chance to fly in one of these fantastic airplanes. Blue Skies, Buz PS: Shelbyville is the home of the world famous Tennessee Walking horses. It is also the home of Arion, and it is definitely not a "walking" horse. http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 06:41:55 PM PST US From: "Colin J. I am really bummed as this is just what the Lightning community needs to keep the fires going. If I were going.. I would also want to focus solely on the Lightning and the Jabiru 3300. Perhaps a high level walk through, (very high level) of the build sequence, followed by something relating to the 3300, (break-in procedure, mounting, or tips for success, cooling, etc.). I also think that since so many lightning builders are nearing completion; something along the lines of the flight manual, and procedures for flying off the hours. And Earl's presentation is a nice touch too. Of course, a little R/C hover time would be nice too. I have divided the 40 hour "FAA phase one" test period into five phases and the presentation goes over each phase with specific mission elements for each. It is something I have developed, refined, and updated over many years as I have now made the initial flight on seven different experimental aircraft. Pete, Nick and Mark will cover the history of the Lightning and all the current information on building it, and the future possibilities that may see the light of day from the skunk works. All attendees will have a chance to make suggestions as to future skunk work developments once the "beer light" is illuminated. The suggestion for a visit to the Staggerwing/Bonanza Museum was just that, a suggestion. Some attendees with flying Lightnings might not want to attend presentations on test flying or building the Lightning since they have "been there, done that". and they might want to have some other possibilities. I would love to hear about the history too, but maybe I can talk Pete into a brief when I come down for a Jabiru engine seminar. Nothing wrong with suggestions tho, good thoughts!.
