We have a local bank that is looking to loan money for kitplanes. If you
would qualify to buy a Corvette, you would qualify to buy a Lightning.

I sure wish I had the money to purchase the Lightning several years ago when
they were on special. I just purchased a Jabiru 3300 and it used almost
half of my aircraft budget.
For some reason, I had it in my mind that I could build a Lightning for the
same cost as a basic Corvette. I kind of wanted both, and decided on a
plane, so I left the car on the lot and put the money in the bank. I still look
at the Corvette when I drive by.
It seemed that several years ago, I could purchase and build a really nice,
sporty aircraft. I thought that the Lightning was going to be the same cost
as a Van's aircraft. I would not have purchased one back then anyway
because I didn't fit very well. But the changes have rectified that problem.
I think the Lightning is one of the best built and necest looking planes
built. My hats off to you guys that are able to work with them daily, and to
you who build them. Unfortunately, my income is not going up as fast as
everything else is. Our health insurance changed and WOW, did they really give
it
to us! So my monthly excess funds are decreasing while everything is going
up. I am afraid its not long until the lines cross and I have nothing left at
the end of the month.
But why am I sniffling about that here.
Mike

Mike:
I wish you the best in figuring out how to budget your aircraft. This is
something that we all suffer from; and once we think we have it figured out
,
some hidden costs pop up and bite us in the Derri=E8re! Most people go abo
ut
buying the airframe first, then the engine, but that's ok; you can make it
work with careful planning.
The beauty of a composite is that you can build it quickly; but is most
cases; you need to buy the complete airframe in one pop.
Best of luck to you with your planning. There are several people on this
forum that are here to help you if you so need it. Stay encouraged! The
Lightning is worth the wait.
Jim!
