I hope to begin working on my Lightning within the month. Due to the distance
I live away from Shelbyville I will be building on my own. I hope you experienced
builders will be willing to share your expertise with me.
Among other things, I am currently struggling with my panel components. I would
like to hear what thoughts some others have had as they put together their panels.
I have decided to go with the GRT EIS. I thought I would stay with the
traditional stem gauges for flight instruments, but after looking into some
of the EFIS available I'm having second thoughts. I'm interested in day VFR
only. I have looked at dozens of panels on the internet and I'm more confused
the more I look. What kind of backup/redundancy do I need? Some panels don't
have any and others have everything duplicated. I have considered Dynon (they
are a little over a hundred miles from where I live), Advanced Flight Systems
(they are less than 200 miles from me), the GRT, and the Enigma. Are any of
you willing to share your experiences with any of these? It would be easiest
to go with the tried and true, but it IS the 21st century.
Thank you for any thoughts you might share.
Steve
