Dear Listers, There are just a couple days left for this year's List Fund Raiser. Over all, participation has been good, but things have been pretty slow this week for some reason. If you've been putting off making your Contribution until the last minute, this is it! The last minute, that is... :-) Please remember that there isn't any sort of commercial advertising on the Lists and the *only* means of keeping these Lists running is through your Contributions during this Fund Raiser. Please make a Contribution today! http://www.matronics.com/contribution Thank you! Matt Dralle Matronics Email List Administrator

Hi Wayne and welcome to the list. There are at least three builders on the list that are building on their own, maybe more. I'm sure they will chime in to let you know who they are. Also, if you are interested in a completed Lightning, Green Landings is selling their demo model. How does it perform, in a word, fantastic! Jim! _____ From: owner-lightning-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-lightning-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Wayne Flemington Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2007 1:23 AM Subject: Lightning-List: lightning kit Hi I am interested in purchasing the lightning kit with the Jab 3300,is anyone building one at home without doing the 2 week build program and does it perform the way the specs advertise. Are there any for sale that are incomplete?? I am about to start building at home. I believe delivery time for a new kit is about two months at the moment. >From talking to existing owners and reading the archivs of this list, the performance figures are realistic. Colin K. I want to express my appreciation and encouragement to whoever is adding the build manual updates to the www.arionaircraft.com, to keep up the good work! How are you homebuilders getting on? Did you get your canopy scratches addressed and what sort of hole saws are you using? My fear is that if I use a $15 one for drywall instead of a $40 carbide type, it will shred the fiberglass! Colin and all others, All of the accolades should be directed to Nick. He works daily on the manual and is trying to make it better each time. If you have comments or questions please let us know so we can continue to make our product the best it can be. As far as hole saws go, we use fairly inexpensive hole saws from McMaster-Carr. Just perform a search on hole saws. We buy the bi-metal ones since we use them in several different applications. Your kit will be on the way shortly. Have a great day! Colin, I'm a homebuilder. I got a cheap set of hole saws from Harbor Freight, a whole set for less than $5 and the pilot drill was so untrue (it wobbled in the drill chuck) that I couldn't use it. I went to Sears and got an arbor that would hold the cheap hole saws and they worked fine. The canopy scratch situation has not been rectified as of this date. The build manual rewrites are definitely needed and a great help. Having said that, I have spent quite a bit of time agonizing over the spar box installation and I cannot reconcile my measurements with the measurements given in the revised instructions. I am building in my garage at home and don't have the luxury of being able to fit and refit the wings several times. It is currently too cold and snowy to work in the driveway in front of the garage.
