Subject: | [Please Read] - Last Official Day of List Fund Raiser! |
Dear Listers,
Its November 30th and that means a couple of things. Its my 44th birthday for
one, but I'm trying to forget about that... But, it also means that its that
last official day of the Matronics Email List Fund Raiser!
If you been drooling over one of the really sweet free gifts that are available
this year with a qualifying Contribution, then now is the time to jump on one!!
If you've been meaning to make a Contribution, but just keep putting it off, then
now is the time!
I will be posting the List of Contributors in a few days, so you'll probably want
to be known as a person that supported the Lists! Rather than the guy that,
er, ah, forgot (or whatever)... :-)
I want to thank everyone that has so generously made a Contribution so far this
year in support of our Lists. It is your generosity that keeps this operation
a float and I don't ever forget it. Hopefully everyone will feel the same.
The List Contribution page is fast and easy. Please support our habit by making
your Contribution right now:

Thank you all in advance!

Tex,
By "Permagrit tools", do you mean the sanding blocks:
http://www.permagrit.com/index.php?cPath=65
or the hand files: http://www.permagrit.com/index.php?cPath
Mark,
I just ordered my hole saws from McMaster-Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com/
.
Best tool web site I have ever seen! Thanks for the recommendation.

Tools
1. "permagit" tools for fiberglass (both sets, fine and
coarse)
2. An air grinder with cut off blades
3. A "dremel tool" with the sanding drums
4. A set of 12" sanding blocks that use "Norton" sand
paper
that comes in rolls and has stickem on the back. 120 & 220 grirt.
These are the most important as I use them constantly.

Would those of you who have built please give some advice about tools,
especially for the fiberglass work?
I am about to start buying my cutting/sanding tools, in anticipation of
the
kit arrival by the end of November, and would appreciate any
recommendation
you would share.
The build manual provides a basic list of tools, but are there any
models
better than others, or with the actual cutting, drilling, sawing bits,
is
there any material or courseness that works better on fiberglass?

Colin,
Nick told me that they use West Systems G5 five minute epoxy. Google it
and you will find a lot of places to procure it.

MessageThe file sets, both coarse and fine. They are about 75.00 each,
but worth it. Also buy yourself a compressor, a good one from Harbor
freight at about 125.00. you will need it for the air tools and when you
paint your plane. Tex

Colin and all,
At the shop we use West Systems (http://www.westsystem.com) G5 epoxy.
G/5 Five-Minute Adhesive
An easy to use, 2-part resin/hardener system for quick repairs, tooling and
general bonding. May be used in spot applications to hold parts in position
while standard epoxy bonds cure. Bonds to wood, fiberglass and metal. Not
recommended for long-term bonds subject to high loads or moisture.
One-to-one mixture, no pumps are required. Cures in 3-5 minutes.
865-16 16 fl. oz. resin/16 fl. oz. hardener.
865-4 4 fl. oz. resin/4 fl. oz. hardener.
It can be found from many different sources. Here is one source:
http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=3756
<http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=3756&fa
milyName=WEST+System+5+Minute+Epoxy> &familyName=WEST+System+5+Minute+Epoxy
I don't know if they're the cheapest but we use them for other items in the
shop.
Hope this helps.
Mark
