Thanks Helmut for your extra evidence and extensive experience. I hadn't heard of you or your aircraft before now but the reliability figures you quote and your technical credibility adds lots of bite to the debate!!! Cheers all, Paul Smith. > Hi Paul Smith, > the reason I am sending you this email because for some > reason the Lightning list is rejecting my post which was a > reply to your post and the replies that followed. Kennedy" Subject: Lightning-List: Builders - Mid-elevator Bell crank The manual says: "Drill a 1" hole centered 1/2" down from the break in the seat bulkhead and another one centered 6" below that. Use a rotary cutter to connect the holes and form a slot in the bulkhead." This would make the slot 7 inches long ( 6 inchs between the centers of the 1" holes) and yet the slot in the picures looks more like 4 1/2 to 5" long. Comments please? Colin K. The wing tip vents are flared at both ends. I see the use of the flare in helping to hold the rubber tube on the inboard end. What about the flare on the outboard end? Looks like it should be cut off to provide the 45 degree angle into the airflow on the front side. This would allow the hole in the wingskin to be smaller too. Comments anyone? Colin K. Drawings shown below indicate a high bypass turbofan however we like the jabiru and will be using 12, 3300 ducted fan units which should provide ample thrust and fuel econemy...so to speak.... However what you may not know is that Nick is sometimes dyslexic so the word "sub" becomes "bus" so now the word is out that he is designing the next competitor to the Airbus. One of the initial drawings of the Blended Body Arion Lightning Bus is shown below. Obviously it will be much larger than the current Lightning, but one unique feature that the prototype / proof of concept BB Lightning Bus is that it will have the internal capability to carry two Mini Cooper automobiles (kind of a his and hers set up) and enough internal fuel to fly around the world non stop and then fuel up the Mini Coopers for a drive around the world. Performance numbers are still classified DBR (destroy before reading) but rest assured that it is pretty impressive. The BB Lightning Bus is kept in their Arion 51 hangar so you may not see it for a while, but word is out that one of the Mini Coopers can be seen almost daily parked in front of their main office.
