Hello, I have not found any accurate information which airfoil exactly is in Lightning, what was the reasoning for that airfoil and if it is a turbulent profile or a laminar profile. Could someone tell that, it would be really interesting? "The incomplete guide to airfoil usage" does not list Arion Lightning. I believe that the Lightning uses a modified NACA 6200 series airfoil. Some others with more knowledge can chime in here. Hope to catch up with you. Jim! Drool all you want. We've got plenty of rags. The third is Bon Hartlines very pale green Pulsar, not at all a dark color. The designer still only recommends white for any areas that will get warm and no amount of pictures will change that. Paint one black if you live in Antarctica I suppose. I think the lightning is a great looking plane or I wouldn't be lurking here but at this point I can't afford all of the fast build components.I have more time than money. I built my Pulsar for 25 thousand and it works great for me but it is still not in the class of the Lightning. The best I can do is 160 cruise at 4 gph (Jabiru 2200) but it is small, with not a lot of room for passengers. I will be at Sun N Fun so if you see a guy with a Pulsar hat drooling over the Lightnings its probably me. When I arrived at the hangar just a little after 7 AM he was already in the cockpit with the engine running. Even though we had light rain, he flew another test profile while the ceiling was high enough. This afternoon the rain left and the weather improved and he flew several more test flights. On one of those flights we briefed a short formation sortie so that I could get some airborne shots, one of which is below. It really looks great in the air even though the wheel pants are not on yet. They have been fitted and will likely go to the paint shop tomorrow.
