Gary and all,
Reference my last post to you, I just noticed a major typo:
In the above sentence the word can should be can't - making the sentence read
- The reason you can't just change the carb jets to the same jet in all
Lightnings is because people don't "build the same Lightning".
Sorry about that.

I'm bring all the broken parts from my nose gear collapse Suggest thatto
Shelbyville next week. This is an opportunity for a discussion of the failure mode
and pilot techniques. Since Buz will be there I'm suggesting Tuesday (5/6) as
a good day. Anybody interested is invited to attend.
Suggest that Nice pick a convenient time and post it on this list in case ant
out of towners want to come.

Earl,
Great idea. I'll see you there. Do you have approval from your kitchen
commander to drink a beer after hours? ;-)

Buz,
Sorry, have to leave out Saturday night. Have a $20 million piece of ha
rdware going up on the next shuttle flight that I have to make sure gets ou
t the door next week so I couldn't stay later. I did get a 1st class "tour
" from Nick today of some of the stuff like the wingtip and got to see the
new demo plane. Definately a transformation from a good plane to a great p
lane from what I flew a little over a year ago. The demo really is much be
tter looking in real life than in pics. Got to check out the new Jabiru 23
0 too. Nick was going to take me on a flight, but weather is bad here toda
y. I did get my thesis defended and am going to send a finished copy to Ni
ck when I get back home. It turned out pretty interesting. Good luck to y
ou guys on judging the flying competition next week. I also have a securit
y clearance now, so feel free to let me in on any secrets! ;-) I can keep
a few. Brian Whittingham

Brian,
Will you be able to stay in SYI until Monday? I will be there Monday a
nd part of that week with some time spent at Smyrna for the national colleg
e flying contest. Nick and I are "cooking" up a future "special feature" t
hat will involve the new Demo and some other "fast" machines. For now, the
details are classified compartmentalized "skunk works" NOFORN. We can "re
ad you in" on Monday
Blue Skies,
