I have also been trying to drop the seat pan to gain head room, but am running into the spar box torsional support tube. I could probably gain an extra inch or more if the seat pan weren't blocked by the tube. I'm wondering if the tube represents the limit to seat lowering or whether there is some clever work around. I am only 5'10" tall, but with a 30" inseam, I have a freakishly long torso and a sitting height of 39.5"; about the same as Jim. With 2" of Conforfoam as a cushion, compressing to perhaps an inch, and the seat pan dropped as much as the tube will allow, I just fit with a headset on. If I can't find another inch, I will probably switch to an in the ear headset. John Eynon Lightning kit #53 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=184399#184399

hello Buzz if you could call me at 504-813-8134 thanks Allan Maxwell N1BZRich@aol.com wrote: Hello All, This is getting frustrating as this is the "fifth attempt" at sending the latest issue of the newsletter. The matronics list keeps saying it is too long and I keep deleting photos to try to get it to go through. I will send an original to Pete and Nick at Arion for their web site and to Jim Langley for his site so if you want to see the first attempt, try one of those places. The Lightning Newsletter or "Arion Hangar Talk" as I have called it for the last two issues, still doesn't have an "official" name, so suggestions are still being accepted. In fact, Rick Bowen suggested one that is included in this issue. By the way Rick, I still need an article from you for a future issue. And all you other guys as well. Get busy and send me something (with photos) for future issues. Now that the May issue is attached, I have already started thinking about the June issue. The feature article will be about Earl Ferguson's world record Lightning flight, so you have that to look forward to. I will also try to get a complete flight evaluation flown on the New 2008 Demo and write that up for the June issue as well. I will be in Tennessee next week to help judge the National Intercollegiate Flying contest and will also spend some time with the Arion guys in SYI. Until later, blue skies, Buz --------------------------------- Need a new ride? Check out the largest site for U.S. used car listings at AOL Autos.

I widened?the center arm rest to make more room in the seat.? You can drop the seat by cutting out the bottom past the support and drop it to the floor , you can gain almost 3".?? Make sure you drill all the holes? you can in the?flute tube. You have to angle the forwarded holes to let the pin slip into the tube this will give you more leg room and head room. -----Original Message----- From: jeynon <jeynon2@verizon.net> Sent: Thu, 22 May 2008 1:15 pm Subject: Lightning-List: Re: Seat height and width for new Lightning interior I have also been trying to drop the seat pan to gain head room, but am running into the spar box torsional support tube. I love hearing from the rest of you "long torso" guys :D . It is nice to know I'm not some genetic freak. [Laughing] . I spoke to one kit manufacturer (not Arion) about his product. When I told him that I had a seat height of 38" (might even be 38.5") he acted like I was some kind of mutant who must have been born near a nuclear power plant or something. [Shocked] . I'm 6'2" with 33" inseam and 39.5" seat height. I don't fit in hardly anything. :>( My size is how the Titan SS came to be a production model. The Remos G3 and the Jabiru 250 were the only other high wings that I fit in at Oshkosh. Didn't try a Lightning, but I'll do so this year. J.D.
