Thanks Linda
This is very timely. I have the plane stripped down ready for inspection
today and was planning to use that awkwardly written thing we used to
buy off the plane at delivery time. Your is much easier to read and usable.
thanks again.

Dick,
I'm glad it appears useful to you; it was great seeing you again at
SYI. Thanks for making the long flight between CO and TN.
See you next year, Linda

I found a Nokia cell phone wall charger in the back seat of my truck. I'm
guessing that it belongs to either Jim, Dick or Earl. Either way, if you
were at the open house, are missing a wall charger AND for some reason you
may have been in the back of my truck then give me a call and I'll send it
out to you.
Have a great day!!

I thought Vx was the speed I would use to clear a 50 ft Obstacle at the end
of departure runway. I am sure you will enlighten me. I just get a higher
climb rate at or near 100 MPH. I will have another look when I get back in
N123WL. I tried different glide speeds and I think N123WL will travel farther
at 75MPH with out power then at 85. It's more like a glider!!
Wayne,
Sorry to take so long to get back to you, but we were pretty busy at SYI
and now that I am home I am graphing out all the performance data on the new
wing tips and starting on the next Lightning newsletter.
You are absolutely right, Vx is the speed you would use to clear
obstacles at the end of the runway and is your best angle of climb. And it is
different from Vy which gives you the best climb rate. Basically, Vx works out
to
87 mph and Vy is 93 mph with the new tips. As to best glide, our data for
the new tips indicates that with flaps up you can go travel farther at 85 mph
(2.5 miles per 1000 feet of altitude loss) than you can at any other speed.
For flaps at 30 degrees you should fly 73 mph and that will get you 2.4 miles
for each 1000 feet of altitude lost. However, if you are interested in just
staying in the air, then slower is certainly better for max time airborn for
each 1000 feet of altitude - get just above the stall for max loiter time.
I will soon have all the data ready to publish and will post it on the list
or in the newsletter soon.
Sorry you and Nell didn't get to make it to SYI this past weekend. We
all had a great time.
Blue skies,
Buz
