Subject: | Re: Touched some nerves? |
Hi AVN,
I guess you needed some outlet for your creative writing efforts. Welcome
aboard!!!.
I am sure you will not object to a few responses to your assertions.
First, I dont seem to pick up spam from visiting anus-oriented web sites,
however I am not so sure about Yahoo. I am sure about Matronics.
Second, never underestimate the frustrations of spam. Pete is a kind man
who is a bit gruff when perturbed, but honest and trustworthy as the day is
long. Some prefer a smooth-talking slime salesman, but I never have. I know
and trust ALL the folks at USAJabiru and Arion Aircraft. So his decision
to stiff Yahoo is not unexpected nor unwanted. I should also note for the
record that Pete does not suffer fools gladly.
Third, I suppose Pete's comments about your font and cap use may have been a
little testy. However, it would seem he was prophetic by inference.
And finally, when you get to comparing airplanes, I think it is a personal
matter. I would hope that the comparator has some level of knowledge and
experience. Reminds me of a Buz story. When a newly minted hot-shot turboprop
pilot ignored the charts, didn't listen to the AWAS and entered a very wide
pattern at Williamsburg recently, 1,000 ft too high going the wrong way; Buz
announced his correct position and turned to land. When challenged on the
radio by the hot-shot, Buz explained the published pattern. A few minutes
later the hot-shot landed, he stomped up to Buz to express his indignation
over being corrected. "How many hours do you have?," he queried. "A little
over 10,000 hours" said Buz. End of story. A few hundred hours even in
Turboprops doesn't stack up well to 10,000 hours in everything from F-16s to Piper
Cubs. Buz has earned to right to offer suggestions and corrections. Some
of the rest of us are pretenders.
Every airplane has its quirks. A very few can be downright deathtraps.
The comments of really knowledgeable people can be helpful here. But the
vast majority are proudly owned because of their virtues. I think it is more
helpful to consider the virtues and the mission capablity of specific
airplanes than to compare their weak points in a vacuum.
A personal note. By my observation, a little sarcasm goes a long way on
listserves. It is a trudge to read and is easily discounted. It does take
more work to package one's thoughts without venom, but I think it is worth the
effort.

Wow! Touched a coupla nerves or what?
First.... Pete Krotchety, unlax and read your own forum. At the time I read
it, EVERY one of the folks (active customers, perhaps, since you didn't
immediately personally crap on them) except you posting on the subject was happy
with their Yahoo experience and some at least a bit unhappy with
Matronics.. Have you asked Yahoo for help with your particular problem? Available
7/24
(not sure about Matronics coverage). The other day I heard someone else make
your exact same claim of sudden spam flooding to their "secret" yahoo
address and it turned out they forgot they were also using their "secret" Yahoo
address for bestiality porn. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just
a
thought. And I would like to withdraw my compliment on Arion customer
service attitude and responsiveness to customer feedback since you just vowed
(as
official, permanent, unalterable company policy apparently) to never
cooperate in any way with any present or future Yahoo Lightning Group no matter
how
many current and potential customers participate in it. Deming would be SO
proud.
Second...to Petey again. .Sincerely sorry about your problem with my font's
appearance but any cretin could see my tone was tentative, cordial, and
neophyte toward members of this group (senior instructor, examiner, and accident
investigator outside) rather than the SHOUTING you accused me of. Today of
course I am blending in extra length plus sarcasm and humor in response to
your crucifixion attempt... in case you hadn't noticed. Hopefully for the
first and last time. Again, I am writing this in Times 12, plain, and it looks
fine on digest and the HTML site. What you saw may be a glitch in that
Matronics stone-age programming language. If everyone sees it too large and bold
on
this post too please advise and I will not post again without exploring the
cause.
Third.... Hi John! Nice of you to jump in and pile on. You can call me
Steve. I see you're from Crossville, TN. Another Arion employee or work for
TradeAPlane or that trailer place outside of town or ??? See the parenthetical
above for my resume. Not that it matters.
Fourth and finally....to kinder gentler Jim. Apologies to all if my
observations ended up in the wrong topic... as I suppose these will also...but
do
you seriously not ever want to hear comparisons (even complimentary ones... I
noted your vastly superior Vne) between your chosen aircraft and its nearest
and thusfar more successful (in registrations foreign and domestic)
competitor? Let's say you prefer your head in the sand on that as is your right.
Would you arrogantly deny such information to others here? Even that one post?
Geez. Tough crowd. Except for the backchannel support I get from those
afraid to risk the curmudgeons' wrath in public... with their names known, kits
underway needing support, and all that. Look - show me a single factual
error in that comparison or another aircraft closer in price, style, dimensions,
useful load, and performance to the Lightning SP variant and I will burn
rubber backing up to apologize. Otherwise.... Happy Holidays to one and all.

Tex,
Assuming you will do gear leg fairings and the Lightning wheel pants, I
would recommend either a Sensenich 62FK58 or possibly a 64ZK55. The FK will
probably give slightly better takeoff and climb performance and about the
same cruise. I am sure Nick will also have some recommendations, but based on
what I have seen flying different props on several different Lightnings, I
would go with one of the above.
Blue Skies,
Buz
Yeah, what he said.
However, we have experienced a lot of difference between Sensnich props
taking off on grass. If you only want to buy one prop and dont plan to do a
lot
of cross-countries, go flatter rather than higher pitch.
My personal opinion is that trying to achieve the highest top speed is both
frustrating and expensive. It virtually guarantees ending up with a prop
collection.
I tried to explain that the IVO testing is still in its early stages. I
wasn't aware that it would "void the warrantee", but I have trouble
understanding what that prop might break inside the engine. It is a very smooth
prop.
It seems to cool better than the Senny. I do believe it will ultimately offer
the best takeoff and the best cruise, but have no reliable data to back it
up, so if you are ready to go, I would chose the Senny and be happy.

Thanks Doug and Buz for the info, I still have few months to make up my
mind on a prop. I wish we could have a few props around in the group,so
we could swap back and forth to find the prop of our liking. Again
thanks for the info. Tex
