Blue Skies, Buz It's warm and nice at Green Landings also. but as you may know, Ryan literally got a truckload of Lightnings (three) two weeks ago and we are working hard to get them going. Besides, we already had one at paint!! We need to get the short wing, secret tips, done so it can go to the new owner at Sun n Fun. Plus we had Charlie's done and waiting for good weather to get the fly-offs done so it can come to you. Uglyest Lightning yet......painted dark primer gray. Will be painted after the 40 hours. So we have five Lightnings sitting here in some state of construction.... Not counting Jim Langley's ...which is getting a new instrument panel. If you check out the videos on www.greenlandings.com (select owners gallery) you will see it at inspection and engine start. We are building now....will be flying later Doug ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 02:02:13 PM PST US From: N1BZRich@aol.com Subject: Lightning-List: new Lightning Newsletter for March 2009 now posted All, Just to confirm for everyone, the latest Lightning Newsletter, issue 2-3 for March 2009 in now posted at both web sites. The Lightning factory site is: _http://www.flylightning.net/_ (http://www.flylightning.net/) And Jim Langley's site is: _http://www.jimslightning.com/html/home.html_ (http://www.jimslightning.com/html/home.html) I hope you find this issue both informative and helpful, and at the same time enjoyable and fun to read. I know I may be beating a dead horse, but once again I am pleading for feedback. Hey guys, I just want to make sure it meets your needs and IF you take the time to provide some suggestions and feedback, then hopefully I can improve it. Does anyone read it? Is anyone reading this? Am I alone on this planet? What planet is this? Hey tower, how do you read me? And along the line of improvements, one thing that I have been thinking about doing is developing an index for all the past newsletters. With a detailed index, if someone wanted to go back and re-read a past article or to see if there had been a past article on some subject (say a technical tip on widgets) they could just "click" on the index and see if there was an article on what ever subject. The index would tell you what issue to look in and on what page. I can see this being a useful tool, especially years from now when there have been several years worth of issues. Now that I have mentioned the above idea, what I am looking for is a volunteer to join the Lightning Newsletter staff (you will be the CEO of indexing) and develop the initial index and then keep it updated on a monthly basis. By the way, the newsletter is an equal opportunity employer and your pay will be equal to mine and Linda's. Blue Skies, Buz **************Get a jump start on your taxes. I do not own a Lighting, although I have considered it. I think you are doing a great job with the newsletter. Getting input from readers is very hard. People want the info, but few bother to give input or articles. As time goes on and the number of Lightings grow, this will change. I think the indexing of the articles is a great idea, but I do not know how to do that. Maybe a Google tool could be used-much like the tool you can use on your desktop to search your computer. If so this could be pretty simple. Keep up the great work. My question is, has Bernoulli's principle been revoked? I had seen a smaller RC model of this thing some time ago, but this photo looks like a much bigger model. Up until now I can pretty much say that if it flies, it looks good. In other words, airplanes are mostly beautiful works of art. However, this "thing" is definitely not in that category. I had not thought abou t a search type index, but if some computer whiz guy can get that to work, it would be super. My initial idea was just to write up a alphabetical list o f all newsletter topics showing which issue and what page each is on. Lots o f initial work, but pretty easy to keep it up to date as each new issue comes out. After it was available it would just be part of the newsletter list where a person could click on it and look for the topic or subject he was l ooking for in the index, then go to that issue. But as I said, your idea is better. Blue Skies, Buz **************Get a jump start on your taxes. Find a tax professional in you r neighborhood today. The newsletter definitely would not be as good or as "readable" without Linda's dedicated work at finding all the errors that find their way into my writing. And I am not just talking typos. She is super. And as to the Lightning of the month, yes, Bill Hubbard certainly does have a great looking Lightning. I had intended to mention that Bill's "jet" was the first customer Lightning to show up at a major fly in. He has been camping with his Lightning at Oshkosh for the last two years. It always seems to be parked in a "sea of RVs", but stands out by itself as an island without rivets. Buz **************Get a jump start on your taxes.
