Jim,
Thanks for the kind words but Buz is way too modest; my effort only
takes a few hours one evening a month. He entreats, collects,
organizes, writes, and performs a myriad of duties required to create a
great newsletter every month. He does it all because of his tremendous
passion for general aviation and his love of the Lightning. I believe
that a good portion of the Lightning's success has to be attributed to
Buz'
dedication to the cause and his eagerness to share that passion with
others.

Thanks, Jim. The newsletter definitely would not be as good or as
"readable" without Linda's dedicated work at finding all the errors that
find their way into my writing. And I am not just talking typos. She
is super. And as to the Lightning of the month, yes, Bill Hubbard
certainly does have a great looking Lightning. I had intended to
mention that Bill's "jet" was the first customer Lightning to show up at
a major fly in. He has been camping with his Lightning at Oshkosh for
the last two years. It always seems to be parked in a "sea of RVs", but
stands out by itself as an island without rivets.

Buz,
Jim and I can both tell you that if you put enough power behind any model it
will fly..of course I will have to say that this thing look neat and
certainly may revoke the standard way of thinking on lift.

Hey Doug (or Green Landings Hangar Rat),
I finally found the time to look at that fan wing "thing" that you sent.
My question is, has Bernoulli's principle been revoked? I had seen a
smaller RC model of this thing some time ago, but this photo looks like a
much bigger model. Up until now I can pretty much say that if it flies, it
looks good. In other words, airplanes are mostly beautiful works of art.
However, this "thing" is definitely not in that category.

Hi Buz
Look forward to reading lightning Newsletter every month, as it Is
informative and gives personal views on How, What and Where. General
Tips on how others have accomplished their Builds with Modifications I
find very interesting. I pick up on these, and apply to my build. I like
the Technical and Modification information the most as it stimulates me
to incorporate a better idea (this has Slowed down the Build as I
modify, but I would not be happy if modifications were not done). Mod
Peter D received his Kit with mine. and I have been amazed (go and check
his jet regularly) at his ability to think outside of the square.Several
other builders also show this ability from published articles shown in
the Newsletter (what a diverse lot we are). As my build proceeds (slow
currently due to work and time restraints) I refer to articals you have
written on various aspects of building and flying the Lightning as a
guide to what can be accomplished, and have this to look forward to.
Your efforts are appreciated.

posted
All,
Just to confirm for everyone, the latest Lightning Newsletter,
issue 2-3 for March 2009 in now posted at both web sites. The Lightning
factory site is: http://www.flylightning.net/
And Jim Langley's site is:
http://www.jimslightning.com/html/home.html
I hope you find this issue both informative and helpful, and at
the same time enjoyable and fun to read. I know I may be beating a dead
horse, but once again I am pleading for feedback. Hey guys, I just want
to make sure it meets your needs and IF you take the time to provide
some suggestions and feedback, then hopefully I can improve it. Does
anyone read it? Is anyone reading this? Am I alone on this planet?
What planet is this? Hey tower, how do you read me?
And along the line of improvements, one thing that I have been
thinking about doing is developing an index for all the past
newsletters. With a detailed index, if someone wanted to go back and
re-read a past article or to see if there had been a past article on
some subject (say a technical tip on widgets) they could just "click" on
the index and see if there was an article on what ever subject. The
index would tell you what issue to look in and on what page. I can see
this being a useful tool, especially years from now when there have been
several years worth of issues. Now that I have mentioned the above
idea, what I am looking for is a volunteer to join the Lightning
Newsletter staff (you will be the CEO of indexing) and develop the
initial index and then keep it updated on a monthly basis. By the way,
the newsletter is an equal opportunity employer and your pay will be
equal to mine and Linda's.
Blue Skies,
Buz
